How Long Does It Take to Convert a Garage into a Habitable Room?

How Long Does It Take to Convert a Garage into a Habitable Room?

A garage conversion is one of the most cost-effective ways to add living space. For a standard single integrated garage, our build takes around two weeks on site.

Before We Start

We visit, measure up and send a written schedule of works. Planning permission often isn’t needed, but building regulations approval is, and we handle building control for you.

Week One: Structure and Shell

We remove the garage door, build a new brick front wall with a matching window, open the room into your hallway, and fit an insulated floor, stud walls and first-fix electrics.

Week Two: Insulation, Finishes and Handover

Walls are insulated, plastered and painted. Lighting, sockets, heating and a new internal door go in, then flooring and skirting, before we clear the site and hand over.

What’s Included in Our Garage Conversions

Every conversion includes all materials and labour, full project management and building control liaison, so you have one point of contact throughout.

What Can Affect the Timeline?

Adding a WC, extra windows, a double or detached garage, or steelwork will add time. We’ll give you a realistic timescale at quotation stage.
