Does a garage conversion need building regulations or planning?
Our conversions meet all current building regulations, and in most cases there’s no need for planning permission. If your home is listed, in a conservation area or on an estate where permitted development rights have been removed, we’ll tell you before any work starts.
What you get
Every conversion is fully insulated, with plasterboard and a skim finish, so it feels like walking into any other room in the house.
- New insulated floor
- Brick-matched walling where the garage door was, with a matching window
- New LED lights and sockets
- Connection to your heating, or electric radiators
- Building Control sign-off, which we arrange for you
We’re usually in and out in two working weeks, with Building Control sign-off following shortly after.
What does it cost?
Most single integral or attached garage conversions we do in Rainford and St Helens come in between £10,000 and £20,000. Adding a WC or en-suite typically adds £4,000 to £5,000 for the plumbing and drainage. For real figures from recent jobs, read our guide: how much does a garage conversion cost in 2026.
Every garage is different, so we price each one after a visit. The price we agree is the price you pay.
